When Scott was two years old, the
movie “Star Wars” was released,
and he became an instant fan and collected all of the characters
which he treasured during his lifetime. Scott participated in many
sports and especially enjoyed swimming, football and snow skiing. At
the age of nine, Scott became an Oakland Raiders football fan. He
also loved music, especially heavy metal, and attended many concerts
with his brother, wife and other friends during his life. Scott was
also a NASCAR race fan. Dale Earnhardt, Sr. and Dale Earnhardt Jr.
were his favorite drivers.
Scott lived at home and worked
various jobs while he attended college to pursue his goal to become
a police officer. Upon completion of the course at Anne Arundel
Community College, Scott received an associate’s degree in Criminal
Justice, was hired by Baltimore City Police and entered their police
academy. During this time he met and fell in love with his
wife-to-be, Tracy. He completed the academy except for the last two
weeks when the Howard County Police Department contacted him. He
left the Baltimore City Police Department and attended the Howard
County Police Academy in its entirety. Upon the successful
completion of the academy, he began his career with the Howard
County Police Department and served with distinction for six and a
half years.
In 2003, Scott bought a home
in Millersville one mile away from his parents home. He decorated
his basement in a Raiders theme with a fully dressed Black Hole
mannequin and many framed jerseys, footballs and helmets autographed
by Raiders players. On game day, he would fly a Raiders flag from
his garage and wear black and silver face paint. Scott and Tracy
went to California to see the Raiders play at Oakland and visit the
Black Hole on several occasions.
On August 16, 2006, Scott and
Tracy were married on the beach in Maui, Hawaii. Ten months later...
On June 16, 2007, while on
duty, Scott was struck and critically injured by a
motorist he was attempting flag down and stop as he conducted speed enforcement
with three fellow officers on Route 32 near Interstate 95 in Savage
Md. Scott died in the early morning hours of June 18, 2007 at
Maryland Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore Md. Family members and
nearly a hundred officers were by his side when he died.
Scott was laid to rest with
full honors on June 22, 2007 at Dulaney Valley Memorial Gardens in
Timonium Md where he will be forever remembered in the Fallen Heroes
Memorial site of the cemetery.
